Forever Plaid Musical Runs Jan. 11-20 at Mesa Arts Center
Relive the 1950s with the musical revue, Forever Plaid, which runs Jan. 11-20 at the Mesa Arts Center and presented by Mesa Encore Theatre.
With direction by Edgar Torrens and musical direction from Emmy Antillion, this particular production isn’t “your mama’s” Forever Plaid. The show will be performed with an all-black cast, featuring Matravius Avent, Miguel Jackson, Derek Rushing and Mitchell Vantrease.
One of the most popular and successful musicals in recent memory. This deliciously goofy revue centers on four young, (or young-ish!) eager male singers, singing in the closest of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with over-zealous precision, the "Plaids" are a guaranteed smash,
with a program of beloved songs and delightful patter that keeps audiences rolling in the aisles when they're not humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950's.
Forever Plaid revolves around a young quartet killed in an accident who returns from the afterlife for one final concert. The catalog of songs includes “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Moments to Remember” and “Heart and Song.”
Mitchell Vantrease (Frankie); Matravius Avent (Smudge); Derek Rushing (Sparky) and Miguel Jackson (Jinx).
